Job Description

The general responsibilities for Production Engineer are to monitoring and optimizing plant process performance. Responsible for improving plant safety, reliability, and efficiency.

Additional Responsibilities for the Production Engineer will include:

  • Responsible for monitoring and optimizing plant process performance.
  • Responsible for improving plant safety, reliability, and efficiency.
  • Provide plant production troubleshooting support and technical support for assigned projects
  • Investigate and implement ways to reduce costs in plant processes
  • Supervise contractors for assigned projects
  • Participate on HS&E teams/meetings to address safety and environmental issues
  • Conduct incident investigations and implement corrective actions as needed
  • Analyze problems/opportunities and participate in identifying solution options
  • Provide technical support to turnaround planning activities and startup/shutdown procedures
  • Perform work permit and safety observation audits
  • Assist with design, analysis and optimization of capital projects
  • Manage Operations documentation including SOPs, PIDs, PFDs, Critical Interlock Matrix, Master Alarm List & Control Narratives
  • Improve process tuning and control schemes
  • Ensure full compliance with all PHMP and PSM requirements, including but not limited to HAZOP Reviews, Pre-Start up Safety Reviews, and Management of Change.
  • Be knowledgeable of and comply with all applicable site, corporate and regulatory safety and environmental requirements.
  • Properly inspect, use and maintain necessary PPE in accordance with site PPE matrix
  • Report all safety or environmental incidents immediately and openly participate in the incident investigation.
  • Fill in for the associated Unit Manager as-needed.

 

 

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of chemical engineering principles including process controls
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to work in the field (climb, stairs, enter vessels, etc.)
  • Problem solving and critical thinking skills with the ability to reason and deduce
  • Proficient with Word, Excel, PowerPoint required
  • Will work in a 24/7 continuous operation chemical manufacturing plant and be required to be on call on a rotational basis
  • Ability to communicate (both written and verbal) effectively and promptly with all levels of the organization
  • Ability to wear full face respirator
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline
