Job Description

 

Potters Industries, LLC is a major manufacturer of glass products, and has an immediate opening for a Regional Plant Engineer. This position will be based out of the Apex, NC. This is an engineering position encompassing project management, process engineering, and process development responsibilities.

Essential job functions 

  • Identifying, designing, and managing capital projects ranging from $50M to $5MM.
  • Responsible for identifying and leading process improvement opportunities and identifying ways of improving plant capacities and efficiencies.
  • Conduct process studies using Six Sigma and DOE principles working with plant management and operations.
  • Facilitate PLC installations and implementations.
  • Provide project implementation services to twelve facilities located across North America. 

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university
  • Minimum of (5) years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment. 
  • Experience in plant manufacturing environment employing bulk solids handling equipment
  • Must be proficient with AutoCAD, Excel, Word
  • Demonstrated ability to manage capital projects up to $5MM.
  • Must have excellent analytical and problem solving capabilities. 
  • Some process experience is a must. Our engineers are always asked to help develop the scope, not just implement a polished idea. Our plants require assistance on the process side of a project idea.
  • Must have the ability to interact and communicate with operators, vendors, and upper management

 

Desired Qualities

  • General understanding of industrial electrical systems and automation
  • Experience with baghouses, dryers, combustion systems, automated PLC manufacturing equipment
  • Experience with developing and implementing PLC control systems (Allen Bradley, preferred)
  • Working knowledge of codes (NEC, ISO, NFPA, OSHA 1910)
  • Experience with DOE/Statistical Analysis software
  • Creative thinker. The ability to come up with a novel solution by marrying what is available on the market with our in house designs.
  • Basic AutoCAD skills:
    • Proficiency with 2D line drawing.
    • Understanding of model vs. paper space.
    • Proficiency with dimensioning of drawings and how to scale and customize dimensions
  • Some maintenance experience in an industrial / factory environment.
  • Multiple discipline experience background would be beneficial as the position will manage all disciplines of projects from beginning to end

 

Position will require 50-70% travel.
