Job Description / Scope:

 

The primary role of the Senior Reliability Engineer is to identify and manage asset reliability risks that could adversely affect specific Plants or ECO’s overall business objectives. This broad primary role can be divided into several smaller areas of responsibility.

 

Loss Elimination

  • Monitor ECO’s major equipment life cycle cost and production OEE losses. Utilize FMCEA analysis to prioritize focused efforts on the largest/most critical opportunities. In full partnership with Plant Operational & Maintenance teams, along with Tech & Engineering Groups, develop plans to eliminate or reduce the losses through tools such as root cause analysis. Obtain approval of the improvement plans, and facilitate plan implementation across Plant sites.Equipment Reliability & Risk Management

  • Manage / monitor equipment reliability, performance issues and risk to ensure ECO’s key objectives are achieved / sustained in the areas of HS&E performance, Mechanical Integrity, Equipment Reliability, Product Quality, etc. Some expected personal skills / tools used to identify and reduce risk will include:
  • PHA – Preliminary hazards analysis
  • FMCEA – Failure modes and effects analysis
  • RCFA– Root cause failure analysis
      • MIT - Mechanical integrity management via Application of ASME /API / NACE Codes & Std., NDT technologies along with utilization of corrosion monitoring databases.
  • RCM – Reliability centered maintenance, Weibull analysis, etc.
  • Vibration Analysis – Level one ANST certification
  • Machinery Lubrication – Level one ICML certificationNew Capital Assets

  • Develop working partnership with the Platform Engineering Group to ensure the reliability and maintainability of new assets and other modified asset installations. Participation in the development of designs and installation specifications of new assets along with commissioning plans. Participation, as necessary, in the final check-out of new installations which includes factory and site acceptance testing that will assure adherence to design / functional specifications.General Equipment Maintenance and Repairs STDs

  • At all sites, ensure effective utilization of conditional, predictive and other non-destructive testing methodologies designed to identify and isolate inherent reliability problems. Perform “PM Optimization Reviews” on all PDMs/CMs, i.e. review PMs to ensure the strategies will prevent premature failures of plant equipment. Review equipment history for trends & make improvements recommendations.
  • Continue the development of new ECO “Equipment Strategies” along with continuous updates of all existing strategies based equipment reliability performances, RCFA learnings and OEE losses.
  • Evaluate and make recommendations for “Value-added” predictive, preventive maintenance tasks on basic equipment that are not covered by an “Equipment Strategies’.
  • Overhaul / Turnaround Support. Review critical equipment operating conditions to ensure turnaround repair scopes are targeting critical reliability issues. Assist with T/A “discovery” repair scopes and make recommendations to ensure reliability and life cycle costs are maximized.
  • Make recommended changes to existing ECO STDs based equipment performance and industry best practices. ECO STDs such as: Piping ESPG 40-XX, Storage Tk ESPG 10-XX, etc. Periodically perform Plant inspections / audits for compliance against these STDs.
  • Participate in Site audits / assessments to reinforce maintenance standards and implementation consistency between Plant sites.
  • Recommend monthly performance metrics that drive reliability activities, which create and sustain improvements.

  • Maintain documentations, updates and refresher training of all ECO “Equipment Strategies”
  • Provide mentoring and education of lower level reliability engineers. Identify specific skills training needs to fill gaps at specific Plants.
  • Provides oversight of RCFA process, ensure any 'lessons learned’ are both captured and communicated to all relevant site maintenance groups and that they are documented and accessible for future benefit.
  • Maintain documentation, updates and refresher training regarding ECO’s Best Practices, such as: Lubrication, Vibration, NDT, Conditional Monitoring, etc.

Job Requirements

  • Candidate should have a minimum of a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering and at least 8 years of related experience in a mechanical reliability.
  • A member of Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professionals (CMRP) is preferred.
  • Experience with the operations & maintenance of Oil & Gas / Chemical Industry process equipment.
  • Detailed knowledge of design Codes and industry standards as applied to Chemical facilities – such as Process Safety Management (PSM), Management of Change process (MOC), ASME & API STDs, etc.
  • Experience with all aspects of mechanical equipment performance testing, conditional monitoring, predictive, preventative and routine maintenance repair methods.
